Quality pet care that's open to everyone

Community Paws Veterinary Clinic (CPVC) is a veterinary clinic in Vancouver, BC focused on one simple idea: every pet deserves good care, no matter what. We offer affordable wellness and surgical services for dogs and cats — and we work hard to make sure cost is never a reason a pet goes without help.

Founded in 2026 by Dr. Kyla Townsend, CPVC fills a real gap in our community. We are the only low-cost veterinary clinic of our kind serving Strathcona and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

How we can help

Wellness & surgery

Affordable, high-quality outpatient and surgical care for dogs and cats, available to all clients.

Surgical referrals

We partner with local veterinary practices to offer affordable surgical referral services for their clients.

Sliding-scale support

Sliding-scale services for a small percentage of marginalized individuals through community partnerships and veterinary referrals.

Our Mission

We believe that everyone — regardless of their situation — deserves quality and compassionate veterinary care for their pet. We are here to support the bond between people and animals..

Meet Dr. Townsend

Dr. Kyla Townsend
Founder & Veterinarian

Dr. Townsend founded Community Paws with a clear purpose: to make sure that no one in Vancouver has to choose between their finances and their pet's health. Her approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and grounded in a deep commitment to both medicine and community.
